FERN KUNNEMANN

Fern Wilma Kunnemann was born June 4, 1918, at Loveland, Colorado, to George Carl and Sophia Freida (Benker) Popp. She attended country school as a youngster and moved with her family to Venango and later to Imperial, Nebraska. Fern married Elmer D. Kunnemann on April 10th, 1940, at Zion Lutheran Church of Imperial, and the couple settled on a farm Northwest of Imperial. Fern assisted with the farming operation along with being very active in the Ladies Aid and the LWML at church. The couple moved into town in 1975 and Fern entered assisted living and the Imperial Manor in 2008.

Fern loved gardening and always had a great garden. She enjoyed sewing and produced many quilts. The love of her life however, was caring for the Grandkids and great-Grandkids that stayed with her often.

Fern passed away Saturday morning, July 28th, 2012, at the Imperial Manor Nursing Home in Imperial. She was 94 years of age.

Collins, CO. 3 Grandchildren: Michael Francis and Wife, Robin, of Imperial, NE Michele Cochran and Husband, Stacy, of Imperial, NE Jason Francis, of Imperial, NE 5 Step- Grandchildren: Bill Lahey and wife, Laura, of Denver, CO Lynelle Lahey, of Denver, CO Patti Armstrong and Husband, Jim, of Denver, CO. Mike Lahey and wife, Kathy, of Boise, CO. Ray Lahey and Wife, Margaret, of Ruidoso, N.M. Great Grandchildren: Casey, Cade, Kass, Triston, Ali, and Roper. Step-Great-Grandchildren: Alysha, Whitney, and Jordan Hopp, Ryan Lahey, Jackie Armstrong, Lauren, Sean, Andrew, and Sadie Lahey

She was preceded in death by her parents, Husband, Elmer in 2002, Son: Larry, Son-In-Law: Earl Dean Francis, infant Grandson: Kirk Russell, Brothers: Harold, Chester, Gordon, Melvin, and Donald. Sister: Dorothy Meeske along with two infant sisters.

Funeral Services for Fern Kunnemann were held Wednesday morning, August 1, 2012, 10:30 A.M. at Zion Lutheran Church with Pastor David Kahle officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery, Imperial, NE

Visitation will be held Tuesday afternoon, July 31st, 2012, 2:00 P.M. – 6:00 P.M. at the funeral home in Imperial.

A memorial has been established to Zion Lutheran Church of Imperial or the Imperial Manor Nursing Home.
