Karen Coralea Bowman
November 5, 1944 – July 21, 2022
Karen was born in a sod house in Kilgore Nebraska. Almost immediately she had to have surgery on her stomach to save her life. This is where she first developed her strength to survive. Karen grew up in the Sandhills of Nebraska which she was very proud of. She was a huskers fan through and through. She had a very humble upbringing in Nebraska. At the age of 16 she married and had three daughters. After her divorce Karen became a single mother and raised her three girls on her own. Karen worked hard and provided a secure home for her three daughters. In 1981 Karen married the love of her life James Bowman or Jimmy or Jim. Karen and Jim’s door was always open and they made room for many relatives and friends in their home through the years. Karen worked at Coors Porcelain for 10 years. She babysat for her grandchildren and numerous great nieces and nephews. Karen had many interests and was always busy; she grew a garden, enjoyed riding motorcycles, loved fishing, camping, country music, cooking, baking and watching sports. After Jim retired they moved from Colorado to Max Nebraska. Karen quickly joined the Red Hatters there in Max and she loved it. She didn’t waste any time making friends either. Karen and Jim both worked hard on the local fish fries and attended all the fun activities including the Dundy County Fair and local concerts in the park. In their retirement they loved to go fishing and they spent countless days at the lake. Karen loved her family and again always welcomed visitors whether she knew you or not.
Karen is survived by her children Suzann (Jason) of Thornton, CO; Orana (Robert) of Durand WI; Julie (Jeff) Northglenn, CO; grandchildren, Lucas (Nathalie), Aaron, Branden, Audrey (Michael), Arionna (Kyran), Larissa (Collin); great-grandchildren, Bella, Brielle, Abylina, Elijah, Cato, Clara. Stepsister Rita; many special nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband of 41 years Jim, Mother Ella, Step Father Victor, Brother Duane, Brother Cordell and Step sister Lylia.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, November 5, 2022 @ 1 pm (MT) at the Max Nebraska Community Center.
