Amelia Headrick
Amelia A. Tesar (Brethower) Headrick was born September 6, 1915 to Joseph and Augustina (Juracek) Tesar on a farm south of Wallace. She was baptized at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Wallace. As a young girl, Amelia grew up on the farm and attended grade school in the country. She continued her studies at Wallace High School and graduated in 1935. After high school, Amelia attended St. Francis School of Nursing in Grand Island, Nebraska, and also Chicago School of Nursing where she received her nursing degree. Soon after, Amelia enrolled in North Platte Beauty Academy and graduated with high honors on March 8, 1940.
After graduation, Amelia was united in marriage to John Brethower and the couple owned and operated a grocery store in Imperial for 15 years. Due to John’s health, they sold the store. John passed away in 1956.
Amelia later accepted a position as Deputy County Assessor where she worked for 15 years. On June 22, 1962, she married John “Fay” Headrick and the two owned and operated the Imperial Coast to Coast store for 10 years.
Amelia loved people and was always willing to give a helping hand to anyone in need. She was an active member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Imperial, the St. Patrick’s Altar Society, and the Eagles’ Auxiliary. Amelia was a loving and devoted wife to her husbands and family. She always had a kind word and a smile. Amelia passed away Saturday evening, August 28, 2010, at the Chase County Community Hospital, Imperial. She was 94 years of age.
Amelia was preceded in death by her parents, husbands John Brethower in 1956 and John” Fay” Headrick in 1987, and several brothers and sisters.

Step-Son: Merrill Headrick and wife, Diana, of Ogden, Utah Niece: Janet Owen and Husband, Pat, of Hayden, CO Nephews: Michael Tesar and Wife, Ann, of Loveland, CO John Tesar and wife, Bonnie, of Loveland, CO Larry Tesar and wife, Jayne, of Denver, Co.
Brother: Bill Tesar, of Denver, CO.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday morning, 10:30 A.M. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Imperial, with Father Bernard Lorenz officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery, Imperial.
Visitation will be held Tuesday afternoon, 2:00 P.M. – 6:00 P.M. at the funeral home in Imperial.
A rosary will be recited Tuesday evening, 7:00 P.M. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Imperial.
A memorial has been established to the St. Patrick’s Parish Hall Fund
