BILL JAEGER
Gordon Ray “Bill” Jaeger was born June, 24, 1938 in Imperial, Ne to Raymond “Pat” Adam Jaeger and Delma Leota Brown. Bill graduated from Chase County High School in 1957 and entered the U.S. Army and served from 1958-1962. Upon returning from the service, Bill worked various jobs with the City of Imperial.
Bill married Janice (Kerchal) on June 20, 1964 and to this union were born two children Destry and wife Kim (Adams) of Lincoln, NE and daughter Crystal and husband Bruce Peterson of Enders, NE. The couple made their home in Imperial, NE where Bill served as Chase County Sheriff from 1966-1994. The couple purchased the Goldenwest Motel in 1992 and worked and operated the business together until Bill officially retired in 2005. During his life and through retirement Bill enjoyed raising registered paint horses, leather crafting, working puzzles, yard work, western music, always a good ol’ western movie and the game of baseball.
Bill passed away Sunday morning, May 28th, 2017, at the Chase County Hospital, surrounded by his family. Bill was 78 years of age.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Delma, sister Sharon Jaeger and brother-in-laws Jim Thompson and Oliver Befort.
Bill is survived by wife Janice, children Destry & Crystal, six grand-children Alex & Carlie Jaeger, Josie, Trevor, Morgan & Jaret Peterson and sisters Patty Thompson of Imperial, Delores Befort of Mead, CO, Joyce Roesener of Imperial, and Marla and Brother-in-law Darty Schilke of Imperial.
A graveside service will be held on June 16, 2017, 11:00 A.M. at Mount Hope Cemetery, Imperial, Nebraska with Military Honors provided by VFW Post # 4688 of Imperial, NE.
