Blanche Smith
Blanche Darlene Smith was born December 21, 1921 at Grant, Nebraska, to AC (Tony) and Margie (Jacobsen) Wheeler. As a young girl, Blanche grew up and attended school in the Grant area.
On March 6, 1939, Blanche married Howard Earnest Smith in Benkelman, Nebraska, and the couple settled and spent most of their lives together in Imperial, NE. Blanche was a hard worker, employed as a waitress for Bab’s Cafe, Hurd’s Cafe and the Imperial Bakery. She was a member of the Rebecca’s Lodge of Imperial, NE.
Blanche passed away Saturday Morning, May 16, 2015, at the Imperial Manor Nursing Home, Imperial. She was 93 years of age.
She was preceded in death by her Parents, Husband, Howard, in 1986, Son, William B. Smith, 3 brothers, and 2 sisters.
Survivors Include: Daughter: Sharon Smith of Imperial, NE Son: Bob Smith and Companion, Jan Bird, of Columbus, NE Grandchildren: William, Shane, and Jeremy Smith Great-Grandchildren: Brittany, Alisha, Hunter, Joey, Mckenzie, Samatha, Kristen,Linsey, Nicholas, Carter and Peyton. Sisters: Veda Pope of Ft. Morgan, CO Marilyn Pope, Yreka, CA Mary Williams and Husband, Bud, of Del City, OK.
Graveside services for Blanche Smith were held Tuesday morning, May 19th, 2015, 11:00 A.M. at Mount Hope Cemetery, Imperial, with Lay Pastor Melody Newman officiating.
Visitation was held Monday afternoon, May 18th, 2015, 2: 00 P.M. – 6:00 P.M, at the funeral home in Imperial
