Charles “Danny” Amos Daniel Austin was born April 19, 1938, in Denver, Colorado, to Charles Amos and Louise Doris (Blakeslee) Austin. Danny was raised by his aunt and uncle, Ora and Ruth (Blakeslee) Humphreys (The cofounder’s of the Berean Church of Imperial and the Maranatha Bible Camp of Maxwell, NE.) and attended school at the Faith Bible Academy in Roach and Camdenton, Missouri.
On February 12, 1959, Danny married Wilma Brown in Hot Springs, South Dakota. The couple first settled on a farm on the south divide near Imperial. They also lived in Imperial proper and recently north of Imperial. Danny was involved with farming; he was the District Manager of Delivery for the Omaha World Herald for ten years. He was also employed by Air Research of La Crosse, Wisconsin, selling area agricultural photos and providing maintenance services for Kurt Thomas Properties. Danny retired in 2005. Danny served in the U.S. Navy from October of 1955 to November of 1957, serving in Korea and Japan. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, which included boarding fellow hunters from out of state.
Danny passed away Tuesday afternoon, June 30, 2015, at the Chase County Hospital in Imperial, Nebraska. He was 77 years of age.
Danny was preceded in death by his parents; uncle and aunt Ora and Ruth Humphreys; brother Arthur (Bud) Austin; and great-grandson Zachary Austin.
Survivors include: Wife: Wilma Austin of Imperial, NE. Son: William (Billy) Charles Austin of Pittsburg, KS. Daughter: Diann Lynn Austin of Platteville, CO. Son: Timothy (Tim) Lee Austin of Carpenter, WY. 7 Grandchildren: Clarissa Vargas, Lydia Austin, Kady Davis, Rachel Austin, Donatellia Austin, Chase Austin, and Beau Austin. 3 Great-Grandchildren: Dakota Smith, Xander Austin and Drayton Wright. Brothers-in-law: Gilbert Brown and wife Joyce of Beaumont, TX and Robert Brown of Cozad, NE.
Memorial services for Danny Austin will be held Monday morning, 10:30 AM (MT) at the Imperial Bible Church with Pastor Robby Clay officiating. Inurnment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery in Imperial with full military honors.
No visitation; cremation was chosen
A memorial has been established to the Heart Ministries Victory Village in Hutchinson, KS.
