Clara Jean Hamilton was born February 16, 1935, on the family farm north of Wauneta, Nebraska, to Cecil R. and Mabel E. (Hallett) Maddux. Clara grew up and attended school in Wauneta, graduating from Wauneta High School in 1952. She went on to further her education at McCook Community College where she received her Associate’s Degree in teaching. Clara taught at a country school just north of Wauneta.
On May 13, 1956, Clara married Robert Dale Hamilton and the couple settled in Wauneta where they raised their two sons Doug and David.
Clara loved gardening and drawing. She also enjoyed singing, dancing, and writing letters to family and friends. Clara loved her animals and most of all she loved spending time with her family and loved ones.
Clara passed away Thursday, November 12, 2020, at the Wauneta Care and Therapy Center. She was 85 years of age.
Clara was preceded in death by her parents; in-laws; Mary and Orval Hamilton; brothers-in-law; Ray Hamilton, Rodney Hamilton, daughter-In-Law; Kathy Hamilton and great-grandson; Caleb Robert Gibbs.

Sons: Doug Hamilton of Alliance, NE.
Dave Hamilton and wife Tina of Wauneta, NE.
Grandchildren: Tobey (Tracey) Hamilton, Jeff Hamilton and Brandi Burke, Kayla (Chris) Cielocha, Justin (Holly) Hamilton, Jenny (Bryan) Gibbs, Shelby Brennan, Megan Brennan, Lorenzo Cavanaugh, Cheyenne Cavanaugh and Dennis Cavanaugh.
Great-grandchildren: Mason, Elena, Parker, Maren, Brayden, Brylee, Kaitlynn, Audrey, Alicyn, and Jase.
Brother: Joe Maddux and wife Joan of Wauneta, NE.
Sister: Lorraine Hannah of Stratton, NE.
Numerous local brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.
Graveside services for Clara will be held Tuesday afternoon, November 17, 2020, 2:00 p.m. at the Riverside Cemetery, Wauneta, NE, with Pastor Elias Mukindia officiating.
Visitation will be held for family and close friends only on Monday afternoon, November 16, 2020, 2:00-6:00 p.m. at Liewer Funeral Home in Wauneta, NE
The family suggests no flowers, but memorials to the Wauneta United Methodist Church.
