CLYDE MARIS
Clyde LaRoy Maris, the son of Clarence and Bernice (Bricker) Maris was born in Imperial, Nebraska, on July 10, 1931. He grew up on the family farm near Rexford, Kansas and graduated from Rexford High School in 1949. Clyde then began working for Stepper Farms of Rexford. In 1953, Clyde married Lenna F. Hughes and to this union two children were born; Craig and Roxy. Clyde served in the U.S. Army Corps, and was stationed in Germany for a time in 1953. He was honorably discharged from the USAR in 1961.
Clyde returned to farming for a time and then went on to become a John Deere diesel mechanic, parts sales, and eventually large equipment sales in Wauneta, and Imperial, Nebraska.
In 1976, Clyde and Lenna moved to Halls Crossing, Utah, where they operated the Halls Crossing Marina for several years. The couple later moved to Page, AZ, where they owned and operated Unique Real Estate and the Smiling Car Wash until retiring and traveling in 1986.
Clyde was very involved in the Wauneta Volunteer Fire Department, the Masons of Wauneta, and the Shriners of Page, AZ. He enjoyed coyote and coon hunting with dogs as well as wildlife and big game hunting, horseback riding, RV traveling and camping, house-boating and exploring on Lake Powell, as well as visiting with friends all over the U.S.
Clyde passed away Wednesday, March 27, 2019, at the Wauneta Care and Therapy Center of Wauneta, Nebraska. He was 87 years of age.
Those left to cherish his memory are his children and their spouses, Craig and Wife Karen Maris of Wauneta, NE, Roxy and husband Wayne Stelk of Grand Island, NE, grandchildren, Miranda and spouse Stephen Goodspeed of Omaha, NE; Adrienne Stelk of Denver, CO, Cameron Maris of Salt Lake City, UT, and Kali Maris of Fort Collins, CO, and a great-grandchild; Cadence Maris. His brothers; Robert Marris of El Dorado Springs, MO, Jack and wife, Shirley Maris of Atwood, KS, sister-in-law; Sharon Hughes Isaacs of Wichita, KS, loving friend Eileen Rice of Sheridan, WY, and many other much loved relatives and special friends also survive him.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Lenna, infant son; Bismark, his parents, his brother; Jim, and sister-in-law, Willa, father and mother-In-Law: Bismark and Maye Hughes, brother-in-law; Oddus Isaacs
Graveside Inurnment services will be held Saturday, June 29, 2019, 1:30 P.M. (Central Time) at the Rexford Cemetery, Rexford, Kansas, with full military honors.
Memorials have been suggested to the Wauneta Care and Therapy Center of Wauneta, NE.
