Colleen A. Kinder

Colleen Ann (Forsbeck) Kinder was born September 3, 1929, at home in Gorham, KS, to the late Ansel and Ruffina Forsbeck. A life-long Missouri Synod Lutheran, Colleen was baptized on September 29, 1929, in Gorham, KS, by Rev. E.H.L. Frese, and confirmed on April 23, 1943, at Zion Lutheran Church in Independence, KS, by Rev. W.A. Meyer. Shortly after her father's death, the family moved to Imperial, NE, in 1945, where she started at Chase County High School as a sophomore. She graduated from CCHS in 1947.

Colleen worked at Luhrs & Reynolds Furniture and Norman & Peterson Appliance. On October 8, 1950, she married Wayne Dee "Rusty" Kinder. She worked as Executive Director of Sunset Homes for the elderly for more than 17 years. Colleen and Rusty opened and operated two catalog stores in Imperial, the Montgomery Wards, and then JC Penney, until they retired in 2005. Colleen was member of Zion Lutheran Church for many decades, she sang in the choir, participated in ladies’ groups, and enjoyed studying the Bible, especially with the Women’s Bible Study.
