Dana Kaye Sorensen, born on July 17, 1959, in Imperial, Nebraska, to Gail and JoAnne Rowley. Dana passed away peacefully on March 22, 2025, at her home, surrounded by her family. She was a devoted wife, daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, friend and cherished caregiver, leaving behind a legacy of love and warmth.
Dana grew up in Imperial and attended Chase County School in Imperial, where she graduated with the class of 1977. Her career commenced early at the Imperial Republican Newspaper, which paved the way for an impressive 37.5 years in the field of Composition and Production. Dana's work was marked by dedication and excellence, contributing significantly to her profession.
Dana married Jim Sorensen on August 19, 1994 in Imperial. A relationship which was deeply rooted in love until Jim’s passing on June 24, 1996. Throughout her life, Dana cherished her time spent with family. She found joy in being a loving mom and a devoted grandma to her eight grandchildren. Her passion for family extended beyond everyday moments; she loved watching her kids and grandkids participate in sporting events, often celebrating their achievements with her encouraging spirit. Dana was not just a spectator; her home was a welcoming space filled with laughter, as she frequently cooked and hosted family gatherings, nurturing connections among her loved ones.
An active member of her community, Dana was a longtime member of Zion Lutheran Church until her recent transition to the Berean Church. She also took pride in her affiliations with the VFW Auxiliary and the Imperial Eagles, underscoring her commitment to service and community.
Dana is survived by her son Casey (Kristen) Malone, her daughters Holli (Nick) Jaeger, Abby (Jordan) Lund, and Mylee Sorensen, her mother JoAnne Rowley, her brother Dwight Rowley, her sisters, Gayla Rowley and Laurie (Stacy) Spotanski, mother-in-law Betty Sorensen, brother-in-law Jeff (Deborah) Sorensen, as well as her eight beloved grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Sorensen; her father Gail Rowley, and her granddaughter Lilian.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 A.M. (MT) on Friday, April 11 at the Imperial Berean Church with Pastor Matt Maxwell officiating. Inurnment will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Imperial.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Chase County Hospital Foundation-Cancer Funds in Dana’s memory.
