Theresa Darlene Haarberg was born to Max and Mary (Maes) Baldonado on December 16, 1945 in Parks, Nebraska and was baptized at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Benkelman, Nebraska on March 24, 1946. At a young age, Darlene’s family moved to Wauneta, Nebraska where she graduated from high school with the class of 1964.
On November 26, 1967 Darlene was united in marriage to Lynn Haarberg at Redeemer Lutheran Church of Wauneta. Shortly after her marriage she was confirmed into the Lutheran faith on December 3, 1967. Darlene and Lynn made a home in Wauneta before moving to the family farm north of town. She worked for a time at Rudy’s Drive Inn and later devoted her gifts to being a mother and a farmer’s wife.
Darlene was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church of Wauneta, the Garfield Club and was an active volunteer and visitor at the Sunrise Heights Nursing Home in Wauneta. In addition to caring for her family and taking a role in her community, Darlene was an accomplished baker, enjoyed caring for her flowers and yard, and took great joy from visiting with her family and friends.
Darlene passed away early Saturday morning, May 21, 2016 at the Great Plains Regional Medical Center in North Platte, Nebraska. She was 70 years of age.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother-in-law, Lavon Haarberg.

Memorial services will be Tuesday morning, May 24, 2016, 10:30 a.m. (Mountain Time) at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Wauneta with Pastor David McCarthy officiating. Inurnment will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Wauneta.
No visitation; Darlene chose cremation.
Memorials have been established to the Sunrise Heights Nursing Home of Wauneta and the Chase County Community Hospital Foundation.
