David Wagner

David Michael Wagner was born to Art and Georgia (Thompson) Wagner on March 5, 1942 in Sterling, Colorado. He graduated from Saint Anthony High School of Sterling, CO, in 1960. He went on to further his education at Northeastern Junior College (1964) and the University of Northern Colorado (1970).

David married Ardis Atkins on December 29, 1970 at the Methodist Church in Fleming, Colorado. The couple made homes in Oakridge, Oregon from 1970-1972, Palisade, Nebraska from 1972-1973, Hamlet, Nebraska from 1973-2015 and Culbertson, Nebraska in 2015.

He worked at a sugar beet factory in Sterling, Colorado and did highway construction. David was employed by the Oakridge, Oregon school system for 2 years, Wauneta-Palisade schools for 26 years and Culbertson schools for 2 years. He attended the Hamlet Union Church in Hamlet, Nebraska, until he moved to Culbertson a year ago and began attending the McCook Evangelical Church. He was active in the Awanas program serving for twenty-nine years.

David was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping and writing. He had seven articles published in Colorado Outdoors between January 1978 and August of 1984; additional articles were printed in: Fun, Fish, Game (Jan. 1981), Fishing Facts (Jul. 1981), American Shotgunner (Oct. 1977, Oct. 1978 and Mar. 1978), and American Forests (Mar. 1982.)

David passed away Friday Evening, February 5, 2016, at the Chase County Community Hospital in Imperial, Nebraska. He was 73 years of age.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Sister-in-law, Sharon Atkins of Sterling, Colorado
Sister-in-law, Karen Scott and husband, Kevin of Holyoke, CO, and their daughter, Kelsey
Nephew, Damien Wagner and wife, Kami and children: Krissy, Kaden, Kaylee, Korbin and Kelvin
Niece, Mariah Allen and husband, Travis and their children: Amberly, Valarie, Trenton, Daphani and Troiden
Nephew, Nathan Wagner and wife, Amy and their children: Zavian and Zailen
Nephew, Aaron Wagner and wife, Michelle, and daughter, Shelby.

Memorial Services will be held Wednesday, February 10th, 2016, 10:30 A.M. (Central Time) at the Hamlet Union Church of Hamlet, Nebraska, with Pastors Doug White and Joshua Clark officiating. Inurnment will follow at the Hamlet Cemetery, Hamlet, NE.

No visitation, David chose cremation.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to the Hamlet Union Church, Hamlet, NE.
