Dennis Floyd Goings was born February 26, 1944, to Floyd Lecurgus and Sophia Stella (Kerchal) Goings at Chase County Hospital, Imperial, NE. Dennis graduated from Wauneta High School on May 7, 1962, and continued his education attending Parks Business School in Denver, CO. He earned an Associate’s Degree in Data Processing and was employed in several different positions assisting his brother-in-law; Frank Williams at Estes Park, Colorado. Dennis also operated the Tramway while living in Estes Park.
Dennis married Colleen Rae Knotwell on June 6, 1971, at the United Methodist Church of Wauneta and the coupled settled on the farm in Northeast Chase County where they made their life long home. To this union two sons were born; Bradley Eugene and Billy Jo. Several of their first years of marriage were spent custom harvesting from Oklahoma to North Dakota. Later in life, Dennis was content to stay at home farming and raising cattle. Dennis also enjoyed driving convertibles.
Dennis passed away Tuesday morning, December 1, 2020, at the Chase County Hospital, Imperial, Nebraska NE. He was 76 years of age.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Colleen, sons; Bradley Goings and wife, Kathryn, of Ft. Collins, CO, Billy Goings of rural Wauneta, NE. Grandchildren; Sophia Goings, Lincoln Goings, and Brittyn Goings. Sisters-in-Law; Kay Goings, Carol (Steve) Thompson, Barb (Gordon) Hinrichs, and Patti (Lonnie) Kitt. Brother-in-law; James Knotwell, and mother-in-law; Beryl Knotwell. Cousins; Linda and LeeAnn Kerchal, Eldon Kerchal, Vivian Todd, Marilyn Walker, Jan Jaeger, and Sharon Maris. Several other nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, sisters; Velma Hromas, Lavina Bardsley, Karen Williams, brother, Fred Goings, brothers-in-law; Ray Hromas, Richard Bradsley, and Frank Williams.
Graveside inurnment services will be held, Wednesday morning, December 23, 2020, 11:30 P.M. (MT) at the Riverside Cemetery in Wauneta with Mr. Gordon Hinrichs officiating.
A memorial has been suggested to the Goings Family for a future designation.
