Dennis Lee Lenhart
Denis was born on July 24, 1947 to Loland M. and Julana B. Brown Lenhart in Grant, Neb. He attended the country school nearby his home and graduated from Perkins County High School in 1965. Dennis joined the Army in April of 1966 specializing in Track Vehicle Mechanics, served a tour in Korea and received a sharp shooter (rifle) award.
After his Honorable Discharge from the Army he settled in the Denver, Colo. Area where he was employed at the Coors Porcelain plant and later at Cobusco Mfg. as a welder. While in Denver he met his wife Jeanne Lee. They were married December 21, 1968 and resided in Denver until November of 1969 when they moved to Lamar, Neb. and started their family. To this marriage three children were born, their daughter Cindy and two sons Michael and Patrick.
Dennis worked for local farmers until he started farming on his own in the early 1980s, raising various crops such as sugar beets, beans and corn, livestock and registered Border Leicester Sheep.
Dennis loved his family, farming and also enjoyed fishing, hunting, and camping with his family and friends.
After spending 39 years in Lamar the couple moved to Champion, Neb. in the spring of 2010. Dennis was diagnosed with cancer in 2004 and after treatment stayed in remission until 2009. He fell asleep in death January 16, 2012.
Left to mourn his loss is his wife Jeanne of Champion, Neb; daughter Cindy Way and Scott Werner of North Platte, Neb.; son Mike Lenhart of Holyoke, Colo.; and son Patrick Lenhart and Tara Nodlinski of Grant, Neb.; nine grandchildren and one step-grandchild; two brothers Alan and wife Carol of St. Croix Falls, Wis. And John and wife Lydia of Roscoe, Neb.; and one sister Theresa Lenhart of Moore Okla.; and many nieces and nephews.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Richard and sister Donna Frame.
Private family inurnment services will be held at Fort McPherson National Cemetery in Maxwell, Neb.
No visitation, Dennis chose cremation.
A memorial has been established in Dennis’ name.
The Family of Dennis invites the friends of Dennis and his family for fellowship at the Hastings Memorial Library in Grant, Neb at 3:30 p.m. on Friday January 27, 2012.
