Donald Crumrine
Donald Richard Crumrine was born December 31, 1925, at Wabash, Indiana, to Pliney Earl and Grace (Jones) Crumrine. As a young man, Don, grew up and attended School in Wabash, graduating in 1944. He then was drafted into the U.S. Army during WWII. Don served in France and Germany as a machine gunner in the Battery C, 609th Field Artillery Battalion, 71st Infantry.
Don attended Hastings College in Hastings, NE after his discharge from the Army. There he met and married Erma Francis Lawler on January 19, 1952. The couple settled in Hastings, NE, and later moved to North Platte, NE, New Hampton, IA., and Blue Hill, NE, before making Imperial, NE, their home in 1957.
Don worked for Topp’s Flowers in Hastings, NE after college. From there he went on to work for Leo’s Flowers in North Platte, NE before working at Schilling’s Greenhouse in New Hampton, IA. After working for other people, Don and Erma opened their own flower shop, Crumrine’s Flowers in Blue Hill, NE. The couple then moved the business to Imperial, NE, in 1957, and were in business for 35 years.
Don passed away Tuesday Morning, July 27th, 2010, at the Chase County Community Hospital, Imperial, NE. He was 84 years of age.
Don was a member of the United Methodist Church of Imperial, a longtime member of the VFW Post 4688 in Imperial, NE, a member of the Imperial Chamber of Commerce, a member of the Men’s bowling league in Imperial for many years. He was also a member of the Teleflora florists’ organization through his business. Don loved to bowl and the out of doors, enjoying hunting, and fishing.

Son: Roger Crumrine of Houston, TX Daughter: Shari Rollenhagen and Husband, Dan, of Wallace, NE 10 Grandchildren: Colonie (Martin) Wiley, Katrina (Martin) Isom, Lisa Martin, Megan Martin, Theresa Crumrine, Jason Howard, Heather Howard, Sean Howard, Sara Rollenragen, Loyd Rollenragen 2 Great-Grandchildren: Tyson and Kodi Isom
Don was preceded in death by his parents, Pliney and Grace, Sister: Ruth (Crumrine) Boyer and Brother: Jay Crumrin Funeral Services for Don Crumrine will be held Saturday Morning, 10:30 A.M. at the United Methodist Church of Imperial, with Pastor Fred Andersen officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery, Imperial, NE.
Visitation will be held Friday Afternoon, 2:00 P.M. – 6:00 P.M. at the funeral home in Imperial.
A memorial has been established to the Imperial Manor Nursing Home and the United Methodist Church of Imperial.
