Dona Irene Tropf

July 25, 1929 — August 31, 2019

Dona Irene Tropf was born to Dwight Jacob and Annie Rose (Redden) Hogsett on July 25, 1929 in the Best community in western Chase County, Nebraska. She attended school through the eighth grade and then stayed home to help the family on the farm. Dona would return to school later in life and receive her GED.

Dona was united in marriage to Gordon Albert Tropf on October 14, 1951 in Wauneta, Nebraska. The couple would live in Chase County all their married life; most of that on the corner south of the school in Champion, Nebraska. Gordon was self-employed and operated a custom haying business. This left Dona busy at home raising a 5 acre garden and their nine children.

Dona was a member of the Broadway Church of Christ in Imperial. She enjoyed gardening, sewing and baking. But most of all she was a devoted grandmother and took great pride in teaching her grandchildren how to sew and bake. She also took time each week, for many years, to write a weekly news column for the Imperial Republican.

Dona passed away Saturday afternoon, August 31, 2019 at the Imperial Manor Nursing Home. She was 90 years of age.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a son, Gordon Irving and her six siblings.
