Donna Hayes
Donna Elaine Hayes was born to Richard Earl and Myrtle LaVerne (Polly) Christner on May 19, 1926, at the family farm near Hamlet, Nebraska. She graduated with the Wauneta High School Class of 1944 and furthered her education at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln. Donna married Larry Gene Hayes on November 10, 1946 at the Methodist Episcopal Church in Wauneta, Nebraska.
Donna and Larry first settled in Lincoln and then moved to Golden, Colorado where Larry graduated from the Colorado School of Mines. The couple subsequently lived in Virginia, Minnesota; Timberville, Virginia; Jefferson City, Tennessee; Montvale, New Jersey; Rockland, Maine; Tonopah, Nevada; Gabbs, Nevada; Algiers, Algeria; London, England; Dublin, California; and Modesto, California. Larry died in Modesto on September 15, 2002. In 2004, Donna moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado to be close to her son Craig. She worked at a number of secretarial jobs in her lifetime, the last one being with Kaiser Engineers in Oakland, California. She was a member of the Beta Phi Sorority and enjoyed traveling and sightseeing.
Donna passed away on November 12, 2015 in the hospice unit at Penrose Hospital in Colorado Springs.
Her parents, her husband Larry Gene Hayes, and an infant son Larry Gene Hayes Jr. preceded her in death.

Great-Grandchildren: Carter Hayes, Cooper Hayes, Jillian Hayes, Sophia Kirkner, Gracelyn Kirkner, Julia Brizzie, Arabella Cunningham, Thaddeus Hayes, Caelynn Hayes, Aben Hayes, Aloiyse Hayes, Analilia Hayes, Asa Hayes, Conner Hayes, Asher Robison and Adelaide Robison.
Graveside memorial services will be at 1:00 P.M. (Mountain Time), Saturday, April 23, 2016 at the Riverside Cemetery in Wauneta, Nebraska with Pastor Bonnie McCord officiating.
No visitation; cremation was chosen.
A Memorial has been established in Donna’s Memory.
