DOROTHY MILLER

Dorothy May Miller was born April 30, 1930, at Longmont, Colorado, to Henry J. and Anna E. (Meier) Vogel. She attended Longmont High School and upon graduation, she worked for J.C. Penney. On November 13, 1949, Dorothy was united in marriage to Melvin Miller. The couple farmed in several areas in Colorado and Nebraska. They moved to Champion, Nebraska, in 1982, and lived on a farm northwest of Champion. In 1996, they made their final move to a farm east of Imperial.

Dorothy was a member of the Christian Women’s Club; she led bible studies, a member of the Hospital Auxiliary and attended the Imperial Bible Church and the Imperial Berean Church. She is a breast cancer survivor and ministered to many who were going through breast cancer.

Dorothy enjoyed singing in the church choir and community groups. She also took up golf in later years and enjoyed being out with other women. She enjoyed water skiing and loved spending time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and family at the lake. She shared her baking talents with the community. She had a servant’s heart.

Dorothy May passed away Saturday morning, October 15, 2022, at the CountryHouse Assisted Living in Kearney. She was 92 years of age.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Melvin; and her siblings, an infant brother, Marie Vogel and infant twin sister, Henry Vogel, Jacob Vogel, Lydia Walker, Carl Vogel, Emanuel Vogel, Konstantin Vogel, Edward Ruben Vogel, Emma Hay, Edward David Vogel, Ruben Vogel, Ruth Richart, and Jean Dove.

She is survived by her son, Merl Miller and wife Ann of Imperial; daughter, Melva Ruyle and husband Jim of Greeley, CO; grandchildren, Guy Gilsdorf and wife Dani of Kearney, Lyn Miller of Rapid City, SD, Seth Miller and wife Kristen of Lakewood, CO, Sarah Burkhardt and husband Ryan of Kearney; great-grandchildren, Andrew, Cody and Gabe Gilsdorf, Tobey Miller, Nora and Emmett Burkhart and Adalee and Jaxson Miller; along with many nieces and nephews.

At Dorothy’s request, cremation was chosen. Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. (MT), Tuesday, October 25, 2022, at the Imperial Berean Church with Pastor Matt Maxwell officiating. Services will conclude at the church.
