Edna Ruth Christensen was born on September 25, 1914, in Chase County, Nebraska, near Wauneta, to George and Cora (McElroy) Metcalf.
Edna received her education in the Wauneta Schools, graduating with the Class of 1932. She was united in marriage to Glen D. Christensen on March 26, 1938. They spent their 57 years of marriage life on a farm east of Wauneta, where they raised their three sons; Richard, Alvin, and Neil.
Edna was a homemaker. She belonged to several extension and Social clubs. She was a very active member of the Wauneta United Methodist Church, holding many offices in the United Methodist Women.
Edna passed away early Friday morning, December 20th, 2013, at the Sunrise Heights Nursing Home in Wauneta. She was 99 years of age.
Edna was preceded in death by her parents, Husband, Glen in 1995, three brothers; George, William and Walter, Sisters; Esther Novacek and Grace Oliver.
Survivors Include: Sons: Richard and wife, Judith, of Gaithersburg, MD Alvin and wife, Joyce, of Lincoln, NE Neil and wife, Diane, of Brighton, CO 8 Grandchildren 15 Great-Grandchildren 2 Great-Great-Grandchildren
Funeral Services will be held Friday Morning, December 27th, 2013, 10:00 A.M. (MT) at the United Methodist Church of Wauneta, with Pastor Bonnie McCord Officiating. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Wauneta.
Visitation will be held Thursday afternoon, December 26th, 2013, 2:00 P.M. – 6:00 P.M. (MT) at the funeral home in Wauneta.
A memorial has been established to the United Methodist Church of Wauneta, Scholarship fund
