Edward “Eddie” Raymond Burns was born to Raymond Theodore and Agnes Mildred (King) Burns on August 11, 1945 in Monticello, New York. He joined the United States Air Force on March 19, 1963 in New York City. Eddie served as an aircraft maintenance specialist and was honorably discharged on September 12, 1967 as an Airman First Class.
After his time in the service, he married Sherry Reeps and lived in Texas. Eddie later married Connie Burns in Benkelman, Nebraska and settled in Max, Nebraska. Eddie worked for many local farmers and ranchers including driving truck for Lee Ohrman and being a ranch hand for Kelly Hayward. Later in life he owned and operated Ed Burns Trucking.
Eddie was a Benkelman Legend and his one true hobby was driving truck and working hard.
Eddie passed away early Saturday morning, September 15, 2018 at the Dundy County Hospital in Benkelman. He was 73 years of age.
He was preceded in death by his parents and William Burns.

Daughter, Jenine Burns of Harvard, Nebraska
7 grandchildren: Natalie Myers, Tre Fiesterman, Colton Rever, Haley Burns, Tony Burns, Andruw Towery and Teegan Dewey and 1 great-grandchild, Dakota Bradley
Sister, Joan Lake and husband, Mickey of Monticello, New York
Sister, Barbara Yaeger and husband, Billy of Neversink, New York
Sister, Shirley L. Griffith of Benkelman, Nebraska
Memorial services will be 10:30 A.M. (MT), Saturday morning, September 22, 2018 at the Methodist Church in Max, Nebraska with Pastor Rod Heilbrun officiating. Inurnment will follow services in the Benkelman Cemetery with full Military Honors.
No visitation; cremation was chosen.
In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established to the Dundy County Hospital Foundation and the Max Community Center.
