Alan Sandman
Edward Alan Sandman was born June 8, 1949 to Charles Lee and Marilyn (Behlke) Sandman in Stratton, Nebraska. He graduated from Benkelman High School in 1967 and went on to earn a degree from Mid Plains Community College. Alan served in the United States Army, earning the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam campaign medal and two overseas bars for his service in the Vietnam War.
After his time in the service, he made North Platte his home. He owned and operated Sandman’s Used Appliances. He also enjoyed working on cars, riding motorcycles, fixing things and doing some carpentry. In addition to his many interests, Alan loved music, his family and was very loyal to his friends.
Alan passed away Friday November 15, 2013, at St. Francis Hospital in Grand Island, Nebraska. He was 64 years of age.
Survivors include: Son, Tracy and wife, Alicia Sandman of Kearney Son, Robert Wilson of Santa Barbara, California Grandchildren, Alexander and Dinah Sandman Brother, Charles Lee Sandman II and wife, Andrea of Scottsdale, AZ Brother, Ron Sandman of Benkelman
Memorial services will be held Saturday afternoon, November 23, 2013, 1:30 P.M. at the Benkelman Community Building, Benkelman, Nebraska, with Melody Newman officiating. Military Rites will follow at the Benkelman Cemetery.
No Visitation, Alan chose cremation
Memorials are suggested to the Veteran’s Administration.
