EILEEN GRANT
Eileen (Reynolds) Grant was born on June 5th, 1924, to Emmett “Stub” L and Vera (Crawford) Reynolds, at Max, Nebraska. She attended school grades one through twelve in Benkelman. Eileen participated in band, orchestra, playing clarinet, glee club, choir, and journalism, and working on the school newspaper. Eileen attended the United Methodist Church of Benkelman participating in activities and singing in the choir. She graduated from Dundy County High School in 1941, without being tardy a day for twelve years.
Eileen continued her education at Kearney State Teacher’s College, where she attended for two and half years and worked in Hastings, NE
Eileen moved to California in 1945 and on August 5, 1949, she married Carl P. Grant, an Air Force career man. To this union two daughters were born: Cristine and Cynthia. They lived at several bases in California, Ohio, and had two tours in England.
Eileen was employed as an assistant Secretary for the Victor Valley County District in Victorville, CA for twenty-two years retiring in 1983. Eileen moved from California and became a resident of the Sarah Ann Hester Memorial Home, Benkelman, in 2010.
Eileen passed away Saturday morning, July 29th, 2017, at the Dundy County Hospital in Benkelman, NE. She was 93 years of age.
Eileen was the only survivor of her Father and Mother’s Families. She is survived by several first and second cousins including; Verda Covey, Dorothy, Dunn, and local cousins: Collen Gardner and husband Chet of St. Francis, KS and Jane Geilenkirchen of McCook, NE.
She was preceded in death by her parents, daughters; Cristine and Cynthia, and former husband, Carl
Memorial services will be held at the Sarah Ann Hester Memorial Home in Benkelman, NE, Thursday morning, September 22, 2017, 10: 00 A.M.
A memorial has been established in Eileen’s memory.
