Emma A Brunswig

February 10, 1933 — August 11, 2020

Emma Arlene (Raile) Brunswig was born February 10, 1933, to Ted and Laura (Bryant) Raile at
Frederick and Emma Raile’s house in Cheyenne County Kansas. She attended school in
Cheyenne County through the 8th grade.

In 1943 after a long illness, her mother Laura passed away. Raising the four children, Emma,
Larry, Laura and Sydney was hard for a single father and in 1945 Ted married Thelma Archer,
and together they added four children, Donna, Dixie, Stanley and Ulinda to the clan.

On June 11, 1950 Emma married Edward Brunswig at Salem Lutheran Church. To this union six children were born, John, Sherry, James, Danny, Althea and Emma. Eddy and Emma lived south of Haigler on the Brunswig family farm running dairy cows and laying hens. In 1975 they moved a mile east of Haigler where Emma ran the Conoco gas station and mowed. If the truth be known she probably mowed three fourths of Haigler a couple hundred times a year. Cooking and baking was another passion that she had. She loved making the wedding cakes for her kid’s weddings and anniversary cakes for several couples. Family dinners were her favorite, you never had just one kind of meat and always had several vegetables. She made sure that everyone had their favorite dessert, so with six kids and all those grandkids you had plenty. Cool whip was never an option it had to be the real stuff! RIGHT BOYS!! She was also known to stay up all night canning vegetables and pickles from her garden of freezing sweet corn. Family time was something that she lived for. Emma loved having everyone at the farm for BBQ’s or large dinners. Spending time with family meant everything to her.

Emma was preceded in death by her husband Eddy in 2013, her parents Ted and Laura Raile, son-in-law Sam Beeson, grand-daughter; Shana. and great grandsons; David Glenn Elijah, Samuel Beeson.

She is survived by her mother Thelma Raile. Children: John Brunswig, Sherry Beeson, James (Laura) Brunswig, Danny (Jo) Brunswig, Althea (Ralph) Lebow, and Emma (Brad) Jansonius. Grandchildren: Staranna (Jason) Elijah, Julie (Aaron) Stebbins, Malinda Schneider, Samantha Beeson, Cody (Alicia) Beeson, Rebecca (Mark) Lager, Michael (Shalia) Brunswig, Mark Brunswig, Nick (Janet) Brunswig, Cole (Rachael) Brunswig, Austin and Elizabeth Jansonius.
