Emma Jean Maris
Emma Jean Maris was born to Bartlet(Bert) and Edna (Burk) Maxfield on June 24, 1925 in Wauneta, Nebraska. She attended school in Wauneta and graduated from high school with the class of 1942.
Emma Jean was united in marriage to Merrell Maris on June 25, 1954 in Wauneta, Nebraska at the United Methodist Church. The couple made Wauneta their home and were active in their community and in the United Methodist Church. Jean worked at the Wauneta Roller Mill for her entire adult life and most of her childhood. She knew every aspect of the job, from the formulas to the bookwork and orders. As a child she helped her father with deliveries in Southwest Nebraska and Northwest Kansas.
