Esther Pearl Cline the daughter of Theodore and Elizabeth (Wall) Darby, was born May 25, 1923 at Cheyenne County, Kansas at the township of Nutty Combe and passed away August 31, 2019 at the Wedgewood Care Center in Grand Island, Nebraska. She was 96 years of age.
Esther grew up on the family farm. Her mother passed away when she was four years old. While Esther’s father worked she went to school with her sisters and brother. She received her elementary education at West 10 Country School.
Esther was united in marriage to Harry F. Cline on May 25, 1945 at Saint Francis, Kansas. To this union one son, Larry David Cline was born. Larry passed away at the age of nine years. Esther made her home in Arkansas City, Kansas where she was employed as a kitchen-aide.
Esther was a member of the Salvation Army League of Mercy. She had an expression of love and faith in her Lord Jesus Christ. Esther enjoyed attending flea markets with her friend, Bill Boots. She also enjoyed collecting antiques, bowling, gardening and singing. Her greatest love was her family and friends.
After several years living in Kansas, she moved to Fremont, Nebraska where she was very involved at the Senior Center volunteering as a kitchen-aide. Esther’s final move was to Grand Island and the Wedgewood Care center to be closer to her nieces.
Esther was preceded in death by her parents; son, Larry Cline; sisters: Martha Walter, Mary Stute and Tressa Downs; brother, Raymond “Jack” Darby; nephew, Royce Stute; n niece, Donna (Walter) Pursley; niece, Bonnie (Stute) Hansen and great-nephew, Alan Dean Edeal.
Those left to honor her memory are her nieces: Alfreda (Stute) Schroeder of Aurora, Colorado; Kathryn (Stute) Edeal of Loomis, Nebraska; and Shirley (Walter) Gooder of Bridgeport, Nebraska.
Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. (MT), Thursday morning, September 5, 2019 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Haigler with Pastor Doug Hjelmstad officiating. Interment will follow services in the Haigler Cemetery.
Viewing will take place at the church, prior to services, the morning of services.
A memorial has been established in Esther’s memory.
