Esther Erdman
Esther Louise Erdman was born April 3, 1930, at the family home north of Parks, NE, to Olive Mae (Richard) and William John Morrison. Esther was the youngest of six children. She grew up in Parks where she attended school and graduated with the class of 1947. Esther went on to further her education in Denver, CO, studying business. After returning from business school, Esther began working at the bank in Benkelman.
On September 5, 1953, Esther married Dean Allen Erdman and to this union two daughters were born: Rhonda and Janette. Esther and Dean settled on a ranch north of Haigler where they would continue to live and raise their family until 1978 when they moved into Haigler. Esther loved the ranch and was an avid homemaker and mother to her two daughters.
Esther was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Haigler, Lutheran Ladies Club, Sandhill Butterflies Extension Club, 4-H Leader, and Red Hatters Group.
Esther enjoyed sewing, crocheting, needle work of all kinds, crossword and picture puzzles, and crafts. She loved making things for her grandchildren. Esther especially loved spending time with her family.
Esther passed away Monday, August 22, 2022, at the Sarah Ann Hester Home in Benkelman, NE. She was 92 years of age.
Esther was preceded in death by her parents Olive and William Morrison; husband Dean; sisters Eva (Ward) Felzien and Elva (Olney) Markle; brothers Howard (Leota) Morrison, Wilford Morrison and Orvis Morrison; and brothers-in-law Earl Erdman and Paul and Betty Erdman.
Survivors include:
Daughter: Rhonda Olson and husband Scott of Haigler, NE.
Daughter: Janette Erdman of Lamar, CO.
5 Grandchildren: Jennifer (Marc) Brown of Benkelman, NE; Joe (Roxanne) Olson of Haigler, NE; Tracy (Matt) Conner of Greenville, SC; Brooke (K.J.) Wilkens of Scott City, KS; and Halie (Ross) Peterson of Lamar, CO.
12 Great-grandchildren: Kaylin and Lane Brown; Trynden and Tenlee Havel; Rylee Olson; Olson, Elvie and Ada Conner; Dean and Olivia Wilkens; and Kyle and Sydney Peterson.
Sisters-in-law: Ilene Erdman and Mae (Art) Wilkens.
Several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Esther will be held Wednesday, August 31, 2022, 10:30 a.m. (MT), at Zion Lutheran Church in Haigler, NE, with Pastor Jim Gleason officiating. Interment will follow at the Haigler Cemetery.
Memorials, in Esther’s memory, have been suggested to the Zion Lutheran Church of Haigler or the Golden Inn of Haigler.
