Galen G Todd

Galen Todd passed away unexpectedly on January 20, 2021. Galen Gene Todd was born June 10, 1953 to Duaine and Bonnie (Behlke) Todd. He grew up in Benkelman, NE and graduated with the class of 1972. He went to Western Nebraska Technical College to study Auto Body in Sidney, NE and graduated in 1974. After graduation Galen started working for Sinner’s Paint & Body Shop in Wauneta, NE where he worked until his passing.
Galen married Susan Fries on July 12, 1974 under the condition from Susan’s dad (Guy) that it had to be on his birthday. They were blessed with three children Scott, Steven and Sara. In 1980, Galen and Susan started remodeling their home with the help of Galen’s dad Duaine.
Galen enjoyed taking the kids fishing and watching NASCAR. Galen and Susan made numerous trips to Kansas City to go to the race at the Speedway. In 2001 Galen and the kids helped Susan get Susie’s Creative Stitches up and running. After getting off work from Sinners, Galen would come home and digitize designs for Susie’s.
In August 2020, Galen purchased a building in Wauneta where he had plans of creating his dream shop to tinker on things with his family. Susan would not be far away as it is also the future home of Susie’s Creative Stitches. Galen spent many late nights working on the building enjoying every minute of it.
Galen’s true love was his family. He was an avid Wauneta Palisade Bronco fan, supporting his kids and grandkids at their sporting events. He also enjoyed watching and supporting his nieces and nephews from Dundy County.
Galen is survived by wife Susan; sons Scott (Leslie) of Lee’s Summit, MO; Steven (Shauna) of Pleasant Hill, MO; and daughter Sara (Landon) of Wauneta, NE. Grandchildren: Caroline & Tenley Todd, Payton & Jackson Brady; Karsyn, Katelyn, Brayton & Brody Todd; Halle & Kenzie Bardsley, Harper Lemberg; His mentor, boss and father figure Lloyd Sinner of Wauneta, NE; sister Tris Todd of Goodland, KS; In-laws Barbara Barent of Ogallala, NE; Janet (Kurt) Applegarth of Palisade, NE; Jerry Fries, Kenny (Marla) Fries, Richard (Val) Fries, John Fries, Lori (Tim) Rettele, Connie (Craig) Kerchal all from Benkelman, NE; uncles & aunts: Rudy (Janet) Todd of La Salle, Co; Ralph Maddox of White City, KS; Vonda (Larry) Brown of Lakewood, CO; Donna Behlke of Benkelman, NE; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews and wonderful friends.
Galen is preceded in death by his parents Duaine and Bonnie Todd, his father and mother-in-law Guy and Melba Fries, brother-in-law Wayne Barent, sister-in-law Cindy Fries and grandchild Baby Lemburg.
Funeral Services for Galen Todd will be held Monday morning, January 25, 2021, 10:30 A.M. (Mountain Time) at the First United Methodist Church of Wauneta, with Pastor Elias Mukindia officiating. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Wauneta, NE.

Visitation will be held Sunday afternoon, January 24, 2021, 2:00 – 6:00 P.M. at the Liewer Funeral Home of Wauneta.

A memorial has been suggested to the Todd Family for a future designation.
