Glen Davidson
Glen Dale Davidson was born on Oct. 22, 1962 on a family farm near Lamar, Neb.
As a child he attended Sunday School and church at Lamar Christian Church. There he gave his life to the Lord Jesus and was immersed into Christ. He was a lifelong member there until the church closed in the early 1980’s. He then attended Holyoke Christian Church.
Glen grew up on the family farm and attended Lamar Grade School District #42, then Chase County High School in Imperial. While Glen was still in high school, he enlisted in the United States Army Air Corp. After graduation in May of 1944, he traveled to Texas for basic training, then to other bases around the United States. In November 1945, he was honorably discharged from the service at Scott Air Base in Illinois.
Glen was active in the community and served on the Lamar Grade School District #42 board. He also served on the Imperial Co-op Oil Board, then the Frenchman Valley Co-op Board after the merger in the 1960’s. He served on the board for 27 years and was the president for 21 years. He was inducted into the Nebraska Co-op Hall of Fame in 2002 after a nomination by then general manager Martin Leibbrandt.
Glen and wife Loraine enjoyed travel and traveled to Hawaii, England, Scotland, Ireland, Wales, Mexico, Jamaica and the Bahama Islands.
Glen passed away Wednesday morning, Nov. 19, 2014 at the Imperial Manor nursing home after a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. He was 88 years of age.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Loraine Davidson of Lamar, Neb.; sons Ross Davidson and wife Loretta of Sterling, Colo., Mark Davidson and wife Peggi of Lamar, Neb.; daughter Deon Skomp of Lamar, Neb.; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild; brother Merl Davidson and wife Mary Kay of Lamar, Neb.; sister-in-law, Kathryn Roth and husband John of Snyder, Colo.; brother-in-law Earle Blakesley and wife Donna of Kauai, Hawaii.
No visitation; cremation was chosen. A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.
Memorials have been established to the First Christian Church in Holyoke, Colo., and the Imperial Manor nursing home in Imperial, Neb.
