Glenard GreeneGlenard Dale Greene A native of Chase County died Sunday morning, February 9, 2014, at his home in Imperial NE, at the age of 87. He was born July 10, 1926 on a farm in northern Dundy County NE to Joseph H. and Vera M. (Bricker) Greene of rural Enders. As the second child, he grew up on the Greene farm south of Enders in Dundy County where he attended Ash Grove one-room school house with his two brothers and one sister. He attended high school in Benkelman two years and graduated from Wauneta High School in 1944. Following graduation he was employed at Leech Chevrolet and Farmers Lumber Company in Imperial before joining his father, Joseph and younger brother, Carroll in farming and ranching. Throughout his life he enjoyed hunting and was an early member of the Plainsman Rifle and Pistol Club. On September 8, 1948, Glenard was united in marriage with Colleen J. Fromm of Imperial, and to this union three children were born: Jamie D., Timmie D. and Dirk G. He was a caring, loving and giving father and grandfather who had a special fondness for his grandchildren and great grandchildren. His family has been greatly blessed by his influence and love.During his life he heard the Gospel of Jesus Christ and by faith believing God’s Word, trusted Jesus to be his personal Savior and Lord. One of his favorite scriptures is: “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.” John 3:16-17 He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Imperial for many years. Preceding him in death are his wife, Colleen; infant daughter, Jamie Dawn; his parents, Joseph H. and Vera Greene; father and mother in-law, Earnest and Maude Fromm; brother Joseph J. Greene, and wife, Gloria; sister, Virginia and husband, George King; niece, Sylvia (Greene) Large; and nephew, Robert Greene. Survivors include sons: Dirk and wife, Linda; Tim and wife, Jacqueline, all of Imperial; his brother, Carroll and wife, Ruth, of Ogallala NE; grandsons: Aaron Greene and wife, Erica with great grandsons: Forest, Oliver and Hunter; Ryan Greene and wife, Jane with great granddaughters: Loralie and Bernadette, all of Imperial; and granddaughter Emily Greene of Lees Summit MO; nieces: Lori Pursley of Westminister CO and Annette Hazuka and husband, Jim, of Monument CO; other relatives and friends. A graveside inurnment service will be held at Mount Hope Cemetery in Imperial, on Saturday, April 19th, 2014, 11:00 A.M. conducted by his family. A memorial has been established in Glenard's memory.
