Howard Wyss
Howard B. Wyss was born to John and Ida Mae (Losey) Wyss in Trenton, Nebraska on August 22, 1924. He attended the District 34 Grade School through the eighth grade. Howard served in the United States Army from September of 1944 to July of 1946, earning numerous decorations and citations for his World War II service.
He was united in marriage to Charlotte Ann Dailey on August 14, 1949, in Stratton, Nebraska. The couple settled on a farmstead southeast of Stratton. Howard made his home on the farm until his move to Hillcrest Nursing Home, McCook in September of 2012. He farmed and ranched with his brother Web and son-in-law Larry Eden.
In addition to his life on the farm, Howard was a member of the United Methodist Church in Stratton and enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and watching sports on TV.
Howard passed away Sunday morning, September 28th, 2014, at the Hillcrest Nursing Home in McCook, Nebraska. He was 90 years of age.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Charlotte Wyss in 2004; sisters: Melba, Isabelle, Janetta and Donna Mae; brothers: Alfred, Willis and Web; sister-in-law Helen Wyss; and great-granddaughter Margaret Ann Eden.
Survivors include: Daughter: DeeAnn Eden and husband, Larry, of McCook, NE. Son: Steven Wyss of McCook, NE. Grandson: Matthew Eden and wife, Sheila, of McCook, NE.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon, October 1st, 2014, 3:00 PM (CT) at the United Methodist Church of Stratton, with Pastor Sheila Taylor officiating. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery, Stratton, NE.
Visitation will be held Wednesday afternoon, October 1st, 2014, before services at the United Methodist Church of Stratton.
A memorial has been established to the Southwest Area Training Services of McCook, Nebraska.
