Ila Jean (Hinds) Foley, age 84, passed away peacefully on September 30, 2024, after a battle with dementia. A beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, Ila was known for her sense of humor, warmth, and unwavering spirit.
Born in Los Angeles, California on July 16,1940, Ila graduated from Phineas Banning High School in Wilmington, California. Some of her favorite memories were cruising with “the girls,” and drinking root beer floats at Red and Blackies on Avalon Blvd.
After graduation, Ila dedicated her life to the raising of her three children, Marc. Robin, and Michael. As a single parent, Ila worked hard and was a valuable Administrative Assistant to Presidents and Vice-Presidents for the following corporations: NCR, Xerox, Polygram TV, and El Torito Restaurant Corporation.
It was at the end of her working career that God introduced Kevin Reylea into Ila’s life. Through Kevin, mission work was opened up to her. She discovered a life-long passion for foreign Christian missions. She loved sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ, especially to the Manipuri people in India, and continued her love for “her people” by supporting schools and the building of a new hospital in Imphal (there are actually a small country school and a wing in the hospital named Ila).
After retirement, Ila worked at Palomar Community Church in Vista, California, and Sunrise Heights Nursing Home, in Wauneta, Nebraska. She enjoyed traveling, gardening, game nights, and her special dog Sadie.
Ila loved being a grandmother and was blessed with five grandchildren: Karissa Leigh Foley, Joelle Marie Foley, Christopher Anthony Foley, Mouse Christen Eve Miskey, and Robert Garrett Hanna.
Ila is survived by her brother Lenn Hinds, wife Carol, and son Adam; son Marc Miskey, wife Erin, and daughter Mouse; daughter Robin Hanna, husband Mike, and son Garrett; son Michael Foley, daughter Joelle and son Christopher;
A celebration of Ila's life will be held on October 7, 2024, at The Way Station in Hamlet, Nebraska. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Home Tangkhul Steward (School support in Manipur, India) in her honor.
