James Crabb passed away peacefully on January 12, 2025, in Imperial, Nebraska. James was born on August 20, 1931, in Sutherland, Nebraska, to Joseph and Mary (Kennedy) Crabb.
James enjoyed a varied career that included general labor and popcorn processing, but he was also proud of his service in the United States Army after graduating high school, serving his country until 1955. He remained committed to his roots throughout his life, having grown up in Sutherland, where he developed a passion for woodworking and carpentry then moved to Wauneta in 1989. Among his proudest accomplishments were building his own garage and engaging in lawn care and general carpentry projects that showcased his skill and creativity.
James is survived by his beloved children, stepson Caroll McAfoos, stepson Merle Griess, daughter Christine Aden, and stepdaughter Vanetta Heikotter, along with 34 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, daughter Barbara Benson, stepson Charles Griess, stepdaughter Bernadine Johnson, and stepdaughters Kathie Savage and Kristine Ahrens, sister, AnnaMae Spears.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 17, 2025, at 1:00PM (MT) Liewer Funeral Home in Wauneta, Nebraska.
