Jane Wilkinson

September 27, 1938 — January 9, 2025

Jane Reynolds (McKibbin) Wilkinson passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 9, 2025, in Omaha, Nebraska, at the age of 86. Born on September 27, 1938, in Imperial, Nebraska, to George and Thelma (Schmitt) Reynolds, Jane led a blessed and full life, marked by love for her family, service to others, and a passion for music, travel, and community involvement.

Jane graduated from Chase County High School in Imperial, NE, in 1956, before earning a degree from Colorado Women’s College in 1959. She married Jerry McKibbin of Bayard, NE, in November 1959 and together they had two children, Delni and Randy. Over the years, the family lived in several locations, including Bayard, Cheyenne, WY, and Miles City, MT. In 1978, the family moved to Gering, NE, and their marriage ended in 1980.

Jane's passion for helping others led her to pursue a career in nursing. She earned her Registered Nurse degree in 1976 from the Miles Community College Registered Nursing program. Throughout her career, she worked in a wide range of nursing fields, from labor and delivery to surgical transplant nursing. Jane retired in 2005 in Cairo, GA, from where she continued her love of travel and made numerous gratifying trips with “Feed the Children,” using her medical skills to serve communities in need around the world.

In April 1981, Jane married Ed Wilkinson of Morrill, NE, and together continued their medical careers in various locations, including Omaha, Phoenix, Richmond, and Cairo. Jane and Ed cherished time with their combined ten grandchildren, enjoyed traveling both in the U.S. and abroad, and entertained family and friends in their beautiful southern home. Their marriage ended in 2005.

Jane was a lifelong enthusiast of music. She sang and played her recorders and bells in church and community choirs. She was always eager to embrace the local culture wherever she lived. After sustaining a brain injury in 2010, Jane moved to Omaha to be near her daughter. She worked hard to recover and enjoyed many happy years in Omaha, volunteering at a hospital rocking babies and welcoming newcomers to their community. Though she loved her time in Omaha, she always missed the warmth of the south.

Jane is survived by her daughter, Delni Rasmussen of Omaha, NE; her son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Micki McKibbin of Bayard, NE; her grandchildren: Matthew and Marlee Rasmussen of Overland Park, KS, Joshua and Victoria Rasmussen of Anaheim, CA, Micah Rasmussen of Omaha, NE, Hanah and Dan Molloy of Omaha, NE, Mitch McKibbin of Osceola, IA, Carlie and Shelbie McKibbin of Bayard, NE; her great-grandsons: Tatum Rasmussen, Greyson Molloy, Rhett Rasmussen, and Everett Weir; as well as her beloved extended family and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Thelma Reynolds, and her brother, Richard Reynolds.

Jane will be laid to rest beside her parents at Mount Hope Cemetery in a private family graveside service. Memorials may be made to Feed the Children at:

Jane’s legacy of love and service will be missed but always remembered by all who knew her.
