John "Lil' John" Moreno

John "Lil' John" Moreno, age 61, passed away October 12, 2014 at the Chase County Hospital in Imperial, Nebraska. John was born on March 28, 1953 in Granado, Texas to Jose and Lupe (Zarate) Moreno.
John was a long - time resident of Holyoke, Colorado. John went to school until 8th grade. He then continued his education at the Denver Technical Institute, receiving a diploma in mechanics.
In April of 1975, John married Carla Pflum, and to this union two children were born, Chantel Lynn and Joshua John. They spent time on the farm on the south divide. John and Carla divorced in 1982. John lived in several different communities throughout Nebraska including, McCook, Oxford, Holdrege, Beaver City, North Platte, and Cheyenne. During this time he held many positions as a ranch hand, mechanic, and truck driver.
On September 11, 2002 John married Theresa Chambers. They eventually settled in Casper, Wyoming where John worked as a truck driver for Falco Petroleum Transportation. After the passing of his wife Theresa he moved back to Imperial in August 2014, residing at the Imperial Manor.
John was one of the founding father's of the High Plains Drifter Motorcycle Club. Nothing gave John more joy than riding his Harley, he would ride every chance he got. He enjoyed traveling and visiting new places.
He was a humble man and always had an infectious smile. John loved spending time with his family and friends. He also loved listening to 60's & 70's music, watching old movies, and westerns. John was quite a collector!!! He took pride in collecting knifes, guns, hats, Harley Davidson memorabilia , and "Stuff like that."
John was preceded in death by his wife, Theresa Moreno, father Jose Moreno, mother Lupe Moreno, brother Abel Moreno, and brother James Moreno.
He is survived by his daughter Chantel Bishop and friend Sam Malleck of McCook; son Josh Moreno and wife Tricia of Imperial; grandsons Austin Bishop of Lincoln, Trevin Moreno and Brextin Moreno of Imperial, granddaughter Alyssa Moreno of Imperial, sister Olga Kimble and husband her Rick of Imperial, brother Roy Moreno and his wife Cindy of Holyoke, CO, brother Isidro Moreno and his wife Jo Ann of North Platte, brother Tony Moreno and his wife Yvonne of Sterling, CO, brother Mario Moreno and his wife Mary Lou of San Antonio, TX, sister Erma Green of Fort Collins, CO, sister Dora Jackson and her husband Robin of Windsor, CO, sister-in-law Monica Moreno of Sterling, and numerous nephew, nieces, great nephews, and great nieces, cousins, and friends.
The rosary will be held on Monday, Oct. 27th, 2014, beginning at 9:00a.m. at the St. Patrick Catholic Church in Holyoke. The mass of Christian Burial will follow the rosary and flower service at 10:30a.m with Father William Jungmann officiating. An inurnment will follow the services at the Holyoke Cemetery.
No visitation; cremation was chosen.
Memorial contributions may be made to John Moreno Memorial Fund in care of Liewer Funeral Home, 841 Court Street, Imperial, NE 69033. A memorial in John's name has been established to High Plains Drifters Motorcycle Club and the Chase County Cancer Foundation.
