Junior Hunt
Junior Hunt was born at home on July 2nd, 1924 to Elizabeth and John Hunt in Red Willow County. He was the forth of eight siblings. Junior graduated from Lebanon High School in 1942. Junior was in Would War II as a Navy CB.
Junior was united in marriage to Doris Avery on June 18, 1945. They had just recently celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary along with Junior’s birthday this summer, when many members of the family were able to join them.
Junior and Doris brought four children into this world: Roger Hunt, Sharon (Allen) Hunt, Patricia (Darchuk) Hunt and Debra (Rizzo) Hunt. The family first lived in Naponee, NE, Norton County Kansas, Frontier County north of McCook, Republican City, and eventually settled in Imperial when Junior accepted a position at the Frenchman Valley Coop where he retired after 20 years.
Junior was 87 years old at the time of his death where he passed away in his home on October 11, 2011. He was preceded in death by his and brothers: Lester, Alvie and Jesse and by sisters: Agnes, Dolly and Alice and by son-in-law Walt Hyle. His survivors include his wife Doris, children and a sister Elaine. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Michael Glaser, Scott Hunt, Michelle (Hurd) Hunt, Owen Allen, Sherri Allen, Edward Darchuk, and Eric Rizzo. Great-Grandchildren include: Aaron, Payge, Adrianna, Cassandra, Tiffany, Kelsey and Carlie.
Junior loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them. He especially enjoyed teasing them in his good-natured way. He also enjoyed playing pool and a good game if pitch. Junior enjoyed working in his yard and grew a large beautiful garden every summer. He and Doris made sure to can all their garden goods at the end of the gardening season.
Junior was loved and will be missed by all of his family.
Funeral Services for Junior Hunt will be held Friday morning October 14, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at the Crossroads Wesleyan Church of Imperial with Pastor Todd Burpo officiating. Internment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery in Imperial.
Casketbearers include Russ Hurd, Edward Darchuk, Eric Rizzo, Richard Herrick, Sherri Allen and Lonnie Hunt. Honorary Casketbearers are all of Junior’s Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Thursday afternoon October 13, 2011 from 2 – 6 p.m. at the Funeral Home in Imperial.
