Kathleen A. Brown was born to Jim and Angeline Roys on July 9, 1944 in Wray, Colorado, Kathy was raised on a farm north of Eckley, Colorado. She attended elementary school in Eckley, and high school in Yuma, Colorado, graduating in 1962.
She attended Barnes Business School in Denver, Colorado, working in the finance center for the US Air Force. She spent most of her adult career working in various roles at Dundy County Hospital in Benkelman, Nebraska.
Kathy was a woman of extraordinary warmth, kindness and unwavering love. She dedicated her life to those she held dear, whether it was nurturing her children, caring for her grandchildren, supporting her cherished friends, or being a source of comfort at Dundy County Hospital. Kathy's family was the center of her world, and she filled their lives with laughter, wisdom and comfort.
A loving wife to her husband, Darrell Brown, she built a beautiful life filled with love, devotion, and shared dreams. Their bond was a testament to the power of true partnership and love.
Kathy's deep commitment to family extended to her role as a grandmother. She was the heart of every family gathering, always ready with a warm embrace, a gentle word, and a listening ear.
Her grandchildren adored her, and her presence will forever be etched in their hearts.
A steadfast and loyal friend, Kathy's kindness knew no bounds. She was a source of strength and
support to all who knew her, whether in times of joy or sorrow. She always knew how to bring comfort and light to those around her.
Known for her quick wit and infectious sense of humor, Kathy had an uncanny ability to make
everyone around her smile, even in the most challenging of times. Her playful spirit and mischievous laugh were a constant source of joy. She had a unique way of expressing herself, often using her middle finger in jest to add a touch of lighthearted humor in any situation – a gesture that was always done with love in her heart and a twinkle in her eye.
Kathy's legacy is one of love, compassion and laughter. She was a woman who made the world a better place simply by being in it. While we will deeply miss her, we are comforted by the memories she leaves behind – memories of laughter, love, and of the countless ways she touched the lives of those fortunate enough to know her.
Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Gary Roys, and her daughter, Erika Brown. She is survived by her husband, Darrell Brown; sisters Darlene Davis (Darrel) of Joes, CO and Jane Rowe (Charles) of Fruita, CO; children Michell Hammack of The Colony TX, and Gary Monks of McCook NE; grandchildren Kaitlyn (Ethan) Harmon of Providence Village, TX, Shawn Elliott (Abriana) of Minden, LA; grandchildren Hunter Clark, Jerri Clark and Aspen Clark of Benkelman, NE.; along with a host of friends who will carry on her memory.
Rest in peace, Kathleen, you will forever be loved and never forgotten.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 A.M. (M.T.) Thursday, March 20 at Zion Lutheran Church in Benkelman with pastor Jim Gleason officiating.
