Kaye La Vonne Kamla was born on October 26, 1937 in Haigler, Nebraska to Melford and Ruth (Austin) Andres and departed this life peacefully on October 9, 2024 at the Dundy County Hospital in Benkelman, Nebraska.

Kaye’s youth was spent in Haigler where she attended school and later graduated from Haigler High School class of 1955. After graduating High School Kaye attended College in Greeley, Co to attain her teaching certificate.

On November 29, 1959 Kaye was united in marriage to Marvin Kamla at the Methodist Church in Haigler, NE. They celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary in 2009. Kaye and Marvin started their married life in town before later moving to the Kamla’s Home Place in 1980. To this union 3 sons were born; Craig 1960, Mark 1963, and Ron 1965.

Kaye worked as the school secretary in Haigler for 30 years while raising her sons. In her free time Kaye could be found baking her famous chocolate cakes, with a chocolate icing that was next to none. Kaye enjoyed playing her mom’s Baby-Grand Piano that was passed down to her. She also played the organ at the Lutheran Church for over 40 years. Kaye was a proud member of the VFW and American Legion Auxiliary and the Lutheran Church.

Kaye found joy spending time with her family and watching as her grandchildren and great grandchildren grew up. She loved hosting friends, baking her famous desserts, and most of all gardening. Kaye could be found planting anything from your prettiest pink roses to your sweetest watermelon, which she loved to share with her family and friends.

Kaye was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who enjoyed sharing her love for baking and gardening with her grandchildren- Clark Lenz, Austin Titus, Kate and Dylan Kamla, Brande, Kasey, Jessy, and Lacie McArthur, as well as her many great grandchildren.

Kaye was preceded in death by her husband Marvin Kamla, parents Melford and Ruth Andres, sister Shirley Weaver and husband Mel, in-laws Paul and Marie Kamla ,brother in-law Bob Kamla and niece Julie Weaver.

Kaye is survived by her sons, Craig, Mark and Ron. Eight grandchildren Brande Charnoff and husband Wally, Jessy McArthur and wife Rachel, Kasey McArthur and wife Lorena, Lacie Wilson and husband Mike, Clark Lenz, Austin Titus, Kate and Dylan Kamla. Her eleven great grandchildren Breanna and JoJo Charnoff, Sarah, Jack and Jill McArthur, James and Kaden McArthur, Kassidy, Carter and Mark Anderson, and Megan Rodriguez. Five great-great grandchildren Harley, Oliver, Azien, Isla, and Eli. Special nieces and nephews Steve Weaver, Deb Weaver, Joe Maxson, Matt Kamla and wife Connie, Mitcheal Kamla and wife Karen, and Micheale Zazo. Great nieces and nephews- Amy Taylor-Tuma and husband Ben- children Lily Ann and Laurel, Micah Kamla and wife Janelle, Mandy Paxson and husband Heath-children Miles, Thane, and Heidi, Holly and Heather Kamla. Special Cousins- Lela and Sherri McAdams, Kamille and husband Crawford- children Shaelee and Braxton, Tracy Jones, and Larry McAdams and wife Vicki.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 18, 2024 at 10:30 A.M. (MT) at Haigler Lutheran Church in Haigler, NE. Interment to follow at the Haigler Cemetery.

Memorial Contributions may be sent to P.O. Box 38, Haigler, NE 69030 to the family for a designation to be determined later.
