Keith Kerchal
William Keith Kerchal, son of Joseph I. Kerchal and Olga C. (Vlasin) Kerchal, was born on the family farm, Thirteen miles north of Wauneta, on May 15, 1928. He departed this life on August 1, 2010, at Heritage of Wauneta Nursing Home, after a lingering illness. Keith spent his entire life on the farmstead where he was born. The exception was two years that he served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Keith received his early education at the “brick school” north of his home, and he graduated from Wauneta High school in 1945. Keith enjoyed working with iron and spent much time in his father’s shop learning welding and metal fabrication. He married his wife of over 55 years, Nona J. (Boulton) Kerchal on June 4, 1955. To this union were born three Sons-Kim William, Kevin Joe, and Lloyd John.
His parents, Joseph and Olga Kerchal, and his five siblings-Eva Polly,Leonard Kerchal, Virgil Kerchal, Ramona Nordhausen, and O. Joann Vicary preceded him in death. Keith was a member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church and attended faithfully while health permitted.
Survivors Include: Wife: Nona of Rural Wauneta Son: Kim Kerchal and wife, Jane, of Rica, S. Wales Son: Kevin Kerchal and wife, Laurie, of Wauneta, NE Son: Lloyd Kerchal and wife, Kathleen, of Ft. Collins, CO 6 Grandchildren; Heidi, Heather, Joel (and wife Jessi) Elsie, Justin, and Bryan Numerous Nieces and Nephews
Memorial Services for Keith Kerchal will be held, Saturday afternoon, August 7, 2010, 2:00 P.M. (MT), at the Redeemer Lutheran Church of Wauneta, with Pastor Greg Stuckwisch officiating. Inurnment will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Wauneta.
No Visitation, Keith chose cremation
