Kent Douglas Swink, age 66, of Champion, NE passed away on April 17, 2020, surrounded by his family. Kent was born on September 10, 1953 to Clifton (Junior) and Charline (Neverve) Swink in Imperial, Nebraska. Kent graduated from Chase County High School in 1971. Upon graduation, he worked for the family business where he eventually became the owner and operator. Kent was joined in matrimony to Debra Gray at the Champion Community Church in Champion, NE on June 26, 1982. Kent and Deb settled outside of Champion where they raised their three children and have resided for the past 37 years. He was also a member of the Champion Community Church, where he delivered God’s message for many years. Kent enjoyed hunting, fishing, raising and training Brittanys, volunteering his time for youth activities, the outdoors, spending time with family, and sharing his faith. He was an engineer in his own way by moving dirt and building ponds.
Kent is preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law, Gene Gray; mother-in-law, Wanda Gray Ackerman; father-in-law, Paul Ackerman; and great nephews Joe and Stu Knoetzel.
He is survived by his wife, Debra Swink; children Zeb and Katie Swink of Lincoln, NE; Hannah Swink and Sloan Phipps of Kearney, NE; Janessa and Jake Wolf of Gretna, NE. He is also survived by his three grandchildren, Hunter and Coraline Swink and Myla Wolf. Additional survivors include siblings Jan Clark and husband Rod of Champion, NE; Connie Griess and husband Merle of Champion, NE; Betty Jo Goodell and husband Dick of Odessa, NE; Chuck Swink and wife Billie of Champion, NE; Rodney Swink and wife Lisa of Delphos, KS; Cheryl Davila and husband Ibra of San Diego, CA; brother-in-law Jamie Gray and wife Joni of Perris, CA; brother-in-law Larry Gray and wife Terri of Hemet, CA; numerous nephews, nieces, great nephews, great nieces, great-great nephews, great-great nieces, friends and his Brittanys.
Memorial services will be held Friday, September 11, 2020. 10:30 A.M., at the Champion Community Building, with Zeb Swink and Carrie Knoetzel officiating. Inurnment will at Mount Hope Cemetery, Imperial.
Memorials have been suggested to the Rainbow Promise Pre-School, the Champion Community Building, Southwest Nebraska Pheasants Forever, Chapter # 362, or the Champion Community Church.
