Lois I. Siefken

Lois Iola Siefken was born to Homer Cecil and Carolyn “Carrie” Ruth (Watts) Clements on September 10, 1918 on the Clements Farm southwest of Imperial, Nebraska. She attended Imperial Grade School and Chase County High School, graduating with the Class of 1936.

Lois was united in marriage to Arthur Avery Siefken on December 16, 1936 at Holyoke, Colorado. Art worked for several farmers and ranchers: Charlie Collins west of Champion, Nebraska, the Meeske Ranch southwest of Champion, and the Bud Stinger Ranch. In 1946, Art started farming on shares on the Bailey Estate west of Imperial and in 1954 sold out and moved to town where he worked at the Coop elevator. In 1957 the family moved to Ogallala, Nebraska. In October of 1957 they moved to Iowa. Lois was a stay-at-home mom until the family moved to Iowa where she was a seamstress for Mastercraft Furniture until retiring in 1983. After retirement Lois moved back home to Imperial and made her final move to the Imperial Manor in 2009. Lois enjoyed sewing, gardening and flowers.

She passed away Tuesday morning, November 20, 2018, at the Imperial Manor Nursing Home. Lois was 100 years of age.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Homer and Carrie; husband, Art; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Oliver and Hattie Siefken; son, Jerry Lee Siefken; granddaughter, Penny Long-Ritchie; grandson, Shawn Ritchie; sister, Shirley Smith; sister-in-law, Alice Clements; brother-in-law, Calvin Daschofsky and Art’s three brothers and one sister.

Survivors Include:
Daughter Thelma Long and husband, Irvin of McCook, NE
Daughter-In-Law: Sharon Siefken of Lincoln, NE
4 Granddaughters: Jean Thomas and husband, Fred; Jackie Georges and husband, Randy; Jody French and husband, Duane and Terry Jo Landolt
1 Grandson, Billy Long and wife, Leann
18 Great-Grandchildren
40 Great-Great-Grandchildren
3 Great-Great-Great- Grandchildren
Sister: Wava Daschofsky of rural Imperial, NE
Brother: Frank Clements, of McCook, NE
Brother-in-law, Stanley Smith of Imperial, NE
Brother-in-law, Dwight Siefken of Crescent Lake, IA
And a host of nieces and nephews

Funeral services will be held Saturday morning, November 24th, 2018, 11:00 A.M. at Liewer Funeral Home, Imperial with Michal Swanson officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery.

Visitation will be held prior to services on Saturday, Nov. 24th, 2018, starting at 9:00 A.M., at the funeral home.

A memorial has been established in Lois’s memory.
