Louise Amy (Swartz) Niblack
Louise A. Niblack was born March 1, 1926, near Eddyville, Nebraska to Samuel Edward and Myrtle Viola (Wright) Swartz. At age two, the family moved to Southwest City, Missouri. She lived there until age fourteen. After the death of her father she moved with her mother and younger brother to McCracken, Kansas, to be near other family members.
Louise married Emery Lee Niblack, from Fulton, Missouri, at McCracken in 1945. Five children were born within the marriage: Virginia Lee, Patsy Sue, Joanna, Larry Steven, and Mark Bradley.
The couple and their two first daughters moved to Benkelman, Nebraska in 1948. During her years as a housewife and mother, Louise lived in Benkelman, then moved with her husband and five children to the Doane neighborhood west of Benkelman where she also became a chore lady to livestock and chickens.
The family moved back to Benkelman in 1963. Louise worked at the Circle B Café for a short time. After her husband died in November, 1967, Louise worked as a custodian and a kitchen helper at the elementary school. She went to work as a cook and cook’s helper at the Dundy County Hospital and remained there until age 62 when health issues led to her retirement.
Louise Amy Niblack passed away at the Sarah Ann Hester Memorial Home in Benkelman, on Friday January 27, 2012. She had been a resident there since July, 2011.
Louise A. Niblack was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her youngest son, Mark Bradley. Also preceding her in death were six older sisters and brothers and one younger brother.
She is survived by daughters, Virginia of Grand Island, Nebraska; Patsy of Colby, Kansas; and Joanna of Benkelman, Nebraska; and son Larry and wife Gloria of Madrid, Nebraska; two granddaughters and five great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one older brother, Gordon Swartz of Amarillo, Texas.
As she wished, there will be a private graveside service only.
