Martha B. Bowers was born to Nickolas and Anne (Squartzoff) Boskofsky on September 14, 1922 in Kodiak, Alaska. Martha was united in marriage to Wilfred Otis Wright in 1946 while he was stationed in Seattle, Washington; to this union was born a daughter, Donna and Sharon Wright. Wilfred passed away in 1960 and in 1963 Martha married Raymond Bowers in Brush, Colorado and welcomed to her family a step-daughter, Pamela Bowers.
Raymond and Martha made Benkelman, Nebraska their home where they raised their children and lived for the remainder of their lives. In addition to being a mother and wife, Martha volunteered and helped at local charities and contributed her time and talents to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Benkelman. When not participating in her church and helping with charity, she also enjoyed gardening, reading, crocheting and was an avid Husker Fan. Go Big Red!
Martha passed away Saturday night, April 23rd, 2016, at the Dundy County Hospital in Benkelman, NE. She was 93 years of age.
Preceding her in death are her parents, her husband, Wilfred in 1960, her Husband Raymond in 1999, her daughter, Sharon Wright Lowe in 1992 and her siblings.
Survivors include her daughter, Donna Wright Dennis and husband, David T. , of Vacaville, CA; step-daughter, Pamela Bowers Hanes and husband, Jim, of Imperial, NE; 11 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
A Rosary will be recited for Martha on Wednesday morning, April 27th, 2016; at 9:30 A.M. (Mountain Time) at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Benkelman with a Funeral Mass following at 10:30 A.M. (Mountain Time) with father Tom Wiedel celebrating. Interment will be in the Benkelman Cemetery.
Visitation will be Tuesday afternoon, April 26th, 2016, from 2:00 P.M. -6:00 P.M. (Mountain Time) at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Benkelman.
A memorial has been established to Donor’s Choice.
