Marvin Wayne Real

Marvin Wayne Real, affectionately known as Marv, passed away on April 5, 2025, in Imperial, Nebraska, at the age of 81. He was born on February 25, 1944, in Geneva, Nebraska, to Everett and Ruby Real. Marv grew up in Fairmont and graduated from Fairmont Public School in 1962.

He attended and graduated from Kearney State College with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. It was here that he met and married Betty Jane Hughes on June 21, 1968. Marv went on to obtain a Master's Degree in Natural Science from the University of Wyoming. Marv taught math and science at the high school level until deciding to move to Venango, NE to farm with the Hughes family. Marv successfully farmed until retiring in 2009.

A lifelong teacher at heart, Marv took great joy in teaching his grandchildren invaluable life skills—whether it was how to play poker, solve a math problem, or the joys of hunting and fishing. His quick wit made learning enjoyable and created cherished memories for those who had the privilege of knowing him.

Marv is survived by his beloved daughters, Jody Real, Lori (Bryce) Allen, his sisters, Shirley (Mike) Young and Bonnie Ackerman, brother-in-law and farming business partner, Dan (Josie) Hughes; and a thriving family of nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Memorial contributions may be made to Parkview Heights/Imperial Manor in memory of Marv.

The family will receive friends on April 10, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Liewer Funeral Home in Imperial, Nebraska. Friends and family are invited to come together in remembrance of a remarkable man. Please bring your favorite Marv story to share with the family.
