Melvin M. Miller
Melvin M. Miller was born to Philip and Anna (Borgens) Miller on November 13, 1927 in Johnstown, Colorado. He graduated from Longmont High School in 1945. After graduation he farmed with his father in Eaton, Colorado; he would farm for the rest of his life. Melvin was united in marriage to Dorothy Vogel November 13, 1949. The couple farmed in several areas in Colorado and Nebraska. Two children were born to this union, Merl and Melva while farming at Eaton, Colorado.
Melvin and Dorothy moved to Champion, Nebraska in 1982 and lived on a farm northwest of Champion. In 1996, Melvin and Dorothy moved to their current home just east of Imperial. Melvin was active in the communities in which he lived, serving on the Platte Valley School Board in Kersey, Colorado for 7 years and the Chase County School Board in Imperial for 10 years. He attended the Imperial Bible Church.
Melvin has touched many lives. He formed many long lasting friendships through farming and woodworking and shared his love of both generously.
Melvin Miller went to be with the Lord on March 3, 2015 at his home east of Imperial, he was 87 years of age.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Philip and Anna Miller, and two older sisters, Edna Erbes, and Lylia Brach.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy of Imperial; son, Merl Miller and wife, Ann of Imperial; daughter, Melva Ruyle and husband, Jim of Greeley, Colorado; grandson, Seth Miller and wife, Kristen of San Antonio, Texas; granddaughter, Sarah Burkhardt and husband, Ryan of Kearney, Nebraska; grandson, Guy Gilsdorf and wife, Dani of Kearney, Nebraska; granddaughter, Lyn Miller of Rapid City, South Dakota; great-grandchildren: Andrew, Cody and Gabe Gilsdorf and Tobey Miller.
A Memorial service will be held at the Imperial Bible Church Saturday, March 14, at 11:00am MT with Pastor Robby Clay officiating. A private family inurnment will take place at a later date.
No visitation; cremation was chosen.
A memorial has been established in his memory.
