Merle Macklin
Merle Eugene Macklin was born June 16, 1938, in North Platte, Nebraska, to Harvey John and Phyllis Nettie (Yost) Macklin. As a young man he attended school in several different locations moving with his family.
In February of 1957 Merle joined the United States Army. Merle received his honorable discharge in May of 1959 and he moved to Broomfield, Colorado, where he was employed as a supervisor for Knudson Manufacturing.
On February 2, 1991, Merle married Twyla Jessen in Brighton, Colorado. The couple settled in Federal Heights, Colorado, where they lived until Merle’s retirement. They then moved to Enders, Nebraska, in 1998 and on to Imperial in 2001.
Merle enjoyed fishing, painting & drawing, playing the banjo, reading and playing pool & solitaire. He especially loved spending time with his family and his dogs; Champ and Bandit. Merle was a member of the Imperial Bible Church, where he participated in and enjoyed bible study.
Merle passed away early Friday morning, June 28, 2019, at the Hillcrest Nursing Home of McCook. He was 81 years of age.
Merle was preceded in death by his parents; brother Harvey; twin brother Merlyn; son Merle Macklin Jr.; stepson Lyle Vasenius and sister-in-law Norma Kisker.

9 Grandchildren: Shawn Macklin; Joshua Harlow (Jennifer Gardner); Jessyca Macklin; Nicole Mackenzie; Charlene Mackenzie- Santiago (Jayson); Cody Mackenzie; Brooke Macklin; Breanna Macklin and Jordan Macklin.

Graveside services for Merle Macklin will be held Tuesday morning, July 2, 2019, 11:00 A.M. the Mount Hope Cemetery, Imperial, with Pastor Rob Clay officiating including full military honors.
Private family visitation only.
A memorial has been suggested to Twyla Macklin, in Merle’s memory to be designated at a later date.
