Olan Wallin

July 14, 1912 — April 23, 2014

Olan Wallin  Francis Olan Wallin was born in a sod house in Phillips County, Colorado, on July 14, 1912, and passed away on April 23, 2014, at the age of 101 years.  In 1917 the family moved to the Chase County homestead, 12 miles west of Imperial. Olan attended the original District 66 School until 8th grade. Farming was in the Wallin blood; Olan farmed until he was about 80 years old.  Olan and Mary were married on May 6, 1939 in the front room of the original Wallin farm house with a preacher and one of his cousins standing up for them. They had to wait until fall for their honeymoon – until the crops were in. They moved from the Wallin farm to the Klien farm, to 508 Court Street in Imperial, back to the Wallin farm and finally into the Imperial Heights in 2005. They lived and raised their children: Garry, Julia, Betty and Danny in Chase County. Olan and Mary were married for 71 years.  Over the years Olan and Mary could be found attending almost all local sporting events in the community. They also loved fishing together. For many years they belonged to the United Brethren Chase Church, then the Imperial Bible Church.  Through the years they enjoyed traveling together, visiting Germany, Israel, Egypt, Hawaii and London. In 2003 they were honored to be Grand Marshals in the Chase County Fair parade.  In an earlier interview, Olan was asked “What does the future hold?” he replied “I’m waiting for Christ to come back to earth and take us out of here”. We know that he is rejoicing in Heaven with his Savior, wife and son right now.  Olan was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Mary, son Garry, 2 sisters, and 2 brothers.  Survivors include: Daughter: Julia Brethower and husband Rod of Rio Verde, AZ. Daughter: Betty Haarberg of Aurora, CO. Son: Danny Wallin and wife Charlottie of Grant, NE. Daughter-in-law: Pat Wallin of Imperial, NE. 14 Grandchildren, 22 Great-grandchildren & 1 Great-great grandchild.  Funeral services for Olan Wallin will be 2:00 P.M. (MT), Saturday April 26th, 2014, at the Imperial Bible Church, Imperial, Nebraska, with Pastor Robby Clay and Robert Harmon officiating.
