Paul L. Vlasin
Paul Lawrence Vlasin was born to Dorothy (Johnson) and Stanley Vlasin on June 7, 1946 in Grant, NE . He was baptized into the Catholic faith at Resurrection Church in Elsie, NE and grew up on the family farm south of Elsie. Paul attended school in Madrid, NE and graduated with the class of 1964. While in high school he competed in football, basketball and track. He attended Denver Automotive Institute after high school graduation. On August 6, 1966 he was married to Lana Nordhausen at Mother of Sorrows Church in Grant, NE. To this union three children where born. Paul felt close to his creator when in the outdoors, hence, his love of hunting and fishing. He loved to work with his hands and rebuilt electric motors for 28 years. In his down time Paul worked with wood and many of his creations still grace the homes of his loved ones. Paul passed away Saturday morning, January 8, 2011, at the Perkins County Community Hospital. He was 64 years of age. He was preceded in death by his father, Stanley, his father and mother-in-law, Alvin and Ada Nordhausen and a grandson, Austin Spady. Survivors include his mother Dorothy Milner and husband Dean of Imperial NE, wife Lana of Paxton NE, daughters Michelle Spady and husband Mark of Imperial, NE, Paula Rosentrater and husband Mike of Paxton, NE, and son Troy Vlasin and wife Lisa of Seward, NE, brothers Neal and wife Barb of Madrid, NE, Mike and wife Peg of Wray, CO, sisters Ann Ross and husband Joe of Madrid, NE, Janice Kraus and husband Chris of Hyannis, NE and Theresa Russell and husband Dan of Imperial NE. In-laws Errol Nordhausen and wife Patty of Ogallala, NE, Clinton Nordhausen and wife Nettie of Imperial, NE, Nancy Burge and husband Wayne of Grant NE , eleven grandchildren, and a host of family and friends.
A Funeral Mass will be held Saturday morning, January 15, 2011, 10:00 A.M. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church of Imperial, with Father Bernard Lorenz officiating. Interment will follow at the Madrid Cemetery, Madrid, NE.
A Rosary will be recited Friday evening, January 14, 2011, 7:00 P.M. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Imperial.
Paul’s wishes were for no public visitation.
A memorial has been established in his memory.
