Pauline E Meeske

February 10, 1912 — February 22, 2011

Pauline Meeske
Pauline Elizabeth Meeske was born February 10, 1912, in Champion Valley, Nebraska, to August and Clara (Greim) Meeske. She was baptized on February 18, 1912, and was confirmed February 26, 1926, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church near Champion, Nebraska.
As a young girl, Pauline worked on the family farm and loved to ride her horse named Colonel. She was the oldest sibling and helped out with all the chores of daily life. She attended grade school at Champion Parochial and graduated high school after two years from Champion Parochial High School and from then she remained living on the family homestead.
Pauline’s life devotion was to God and her family. She worked very hard on the farm, grew bountiful gardens, mowed, raised chickens, canned, and sewed. She loved to crochet; making many blankets over the years and of course was the best cook in Champion Valley. She made enough to feed an army. The 4:00 lunches were always a feast and she enjoyed cooking meals and hauling them out to the ranch to feed everyone. There are many memories around the big round table at her home. Pauline was devoted to her church and was head organist of Zion Lutheran Church for 48 years. She taught Sunday school for 30 plus years and was also part of Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML). She served on the Champion School Board for 20 plus years.
Pauline loved children and was like a Grandmother to her 3 great nephews Lloyd, Galen, and Karl and great niece, Gina. She was always available to make pies for FFA functions, drove them to Sunday school every Sunday and was glad to have them over to her house for work or play. One of her enjoyments was hosting and attending the neighborhood coffee.
Pauline truly exampled her life’s devotion to God and her family. She was a remarkable woman to learn from and left so many of us with wonderful memories.
Pauline passed away February 22, 2011, at the Imperial Manor nursing home. She was 99 years old. She truly was a blessing to know.
