Pearl Alice Kapperman was born March 10, 1917, in Ragan, Nebraska, to Jesse M. and Helen C. (Abraham) Huston. She attended school through the eighth grade and then stayed home to help her parents on the farm. She was united in marriage to Alfred H. Kapperman in Holyoke, Colorado, on June 4, 1938. The couple made homes in Holyoke, Imperial and Enders.
Pearl worked from home as a seamstress; she also worked outside the home at Hurd’s Café, Einspahr Drug Store, Ben Franklin, Bob Lee and Laker’s Delight. In addition to her work as a seamstress and at numerous businesses in the community, she was a mother of three children serving as chauffer, nurse and all the other roles that go along as a great Mom and a loving daughter who cared for her elderly mother. She also sold Necchi and Elna sewing machines, along with repairing the machines that were sold. Pearl was also active in her community, serving on the Enders Ladies Aide and taking part in the Enders Coffee Group. She enjoyed crocheting doilies and was always giving them to friends and relatives. Pearl also did ceramic crafts, bead crafts, cut her own patterns from newspapers that she used for sewing. She was very creative and very handy with her hands. She was a great cook and the grandkids always enjoyed her macaroni and cheese. It was the best. Pearl had so much love for her children and their families -- a beautiful lady that will be missed by her family and friends.
