Phyllis D. Nordhausen
Phyllis Dorene (Mathews) Nordhausen was born on February 18, 1929, to Clifford and Florence (Nelson) Mathews at home in the Hiawatha Community, Dundy County, Nebraska. She graduated from Benkelman High School in 1946.
On August 28, 1949, Phyllis was married to Gilbert Nordhausen at St Paul’s Lutheran Church. She was baptized and confirmed into the Christian faith at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church on March 19, 1950. Three children were born to them: Vicki Lynn, Pamela Jo, and Monte Gilbert.
Phyllis was faithful to the Lord in her worship and daily devotions. She was always an inspiration and source of wisdom to her children. She enjoyed being involved with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and had many special times together with her friends and church family. She shared her faith by service in her church and the community.
Phyllis departed this life on April 11, 2010 at Heritage of Wauneta. She was preceded in death by her husband Gilbert, her parents, son-in-law Ron Gloy, brothers-in-law Alvin and wife Ada, Otto and wife Berniece, Edgar (in WWII) and wife Viola, Floyd, Elwyn Krausnick, Jim Johnston, Dewaine Schneider, and sister-in-law Gladys Schneider.
Survivors Include: Daughter: Vicki Goings and husband, Mike, of Lincoln, NE Daughter: Pamela Gloy, of Ogallala, NE Son: Monte Nordhausen and wife, Deb, of Wauneta, NE 4 Grandchildren: Cory Nordhausen of Omaha, NE, Gretchen Nowak and husband John of Ogallala, NE, Heidi Anderson and husband Jason of Imperial, NE, Rachel Ervin and husband Brian of Ogallala, NE 2 Step-Grandchildren: Lucas Goings of Omaha, NE and Tyson Goings of Mundelein, Illinois 6 Great-Grandchildren: Landen Nowak, Kade, Karlie, and Zakary Anderson, Marlee and Alexandra Ervin Sisters-in-law: Viola Krausnick, Delpha Nordhausen and Elfrieda Johnston
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday morning, April 14th, 2010, 10:30 A.M. (MT) at the Redeemer Lutheran Church, with Pastor Greg Stuckwisch officiating. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Wauneta, NE
Visitation will be held Tuesday afternoon, April 13th, 2010, 2:00 P.M. – 6:00 P.M. (MT) at the funeral home in Wauneta.
In lieu of flowers memorials have been established to the Wauneta Community Foundation. `
